Some cats here are with us for life — too old, too shy, or too special for a traditional adoption. Their care is funded entirely by you.
Cloud
Our 12-year-old FeLV+ rescue proving cats with the virus can live long, happy lives with the right care—and winning hearts with his cuddly, attention-loving personality.
Cloud was brought to us in 2015 by Bonita Animal Control due to his FeLV+ status. He was originally one of our longest available adoptable kitties, before he decided to start going to the bathroom outside the litterbox that is! Cloud is a great ambassador for FeLV awareness – at 12 years old he proves that cats with this virus can live long, happy and healthy lives as long as they are given the right care and were not born with the condition or infected in kittenhood. Sadly, kittens with FeLV usually struggle to make it past the age of 2, but since Cloud was a little older when he picked the virus up as a street cat, he has been able to thrive under our care! Alexa is his best friend and they love to sun themselves on the catio, but he especially loves attention from visitors, volunteers and staff – he will push anyone out of the way to get cuddles!
Alexa
Our graceful FeLV+ senior who found safety, friendship, and specialized care—and now spends her days lounging in high places and charming everyone who stops by.
Alexa is another FeLV+ senior cat who was transferred to us by the San Diego Humane Society back in 2017 for our specialized care. A couple of months older than Cloud, they formed a close bond as they watched other FeLV+ residents come and go. A dignified and graceful girl, she loves to spend her time on the highest ledge or cat tree but she also loves to get attention from anyone who comes by! Alexa, we think, taught Cloud the naughty habits of going to the bathroom outside the box so they are partners in crime, but they are very comfortable and happy in our annex cottage and we are grateful to be able to give them the care they deserve after their difficult starts in life.
Daisy
Our longest-serving resident, a sweet 16-year-old cat who overcame her shyness and now thrives as a beloved favorite among staff and visitors.
Daisy #2 is our longest-serving resident having been born at FoC in March 2010! Daisy was a very shy kitten at first and it took her a long time to adjust and warm up to people, even staff who had been caring for her since birth struggled to break down that wall. Eventually the little lady figured out how safe and loved she was and so became friendly but, in the meantime, we discovered an unusually early case of stomatitis which could not be fully cured by tooth extraction so we elected to keep her happy and healthy here. This 16 year old gal is a popular resident among staff and visitors alike and can be found living her best life in our C-7 room!

Provides one of the following: vaccinations for 10 adult cats; entire kitten series of 3 vaccinations for 3 kittens; spay of one cat or kitten; or 3 cases of (5.5 oz) canned cat food.
Provides one of the following: Neuter of 20 cats; or microchip, vaccinations, and test for FeLV and FIV for 7 cats, and covers the cost of their food, litter, and the comforts of home for 2 months.

We welcome volunteers Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 3:00 pm. Must be 16 or older to volunteer independently.
